"Valle Del Sol(Valley of The Sun)

Valle Del Sol new age music

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A tribute to the desert southwest area of the U.S., an area steeped in tradition, legends and folklore from the early 1800's. One of the few parts of the country that still has land unspoiled by man and an area filled with the history of our first Americans, the Indian.   Like a movie soundtrack, this album follows a continuous theme and each track is a story within that theme.  It has been called inspirational, spiritual, healing and metaphysical.  We create the music, you create the images.
"Tom has a winner in Valle Del Sol . . ."  Dave Butler, InnerVisions, WHBN, KY
 "Tom Baker surrounds his listeners with lush guitar and drum work . . .
Borders Books & Music, Cuyahoga Falls, OH
 "We put it on our play station on Monday, we were sold out Wednesday!
    Borders Books & Music, Springfield, PA
    . . ."Digital  music  can  be  very  difficult  to  translate  into natural sounding music.    But Tom Baker has found that boundary where a keyboard is your friend.  It can create drum sounds, orchestrations, effects and smooth synth tones.  Baker's music uses all of this but it is used to make the whole of the music and nothing is lacking".
 A review in Ohio Musician Magazine
"A blending of modern with earlier instruments allow the listener to combine imagery and location with each song creating a vivid personal and cultural experience",  JMK Productions.
"Valle Del Sol" wins the 2000 Global Resource Music Contest held December 2000 in Universal City, CA.  Selected from 800 entries in the New Age category, Valle Del Sol will receive promotion in the US by NOMA Music and in Europe through Unsigned America.
Featured at the Midem Music Festival in Cannes, France
Land of The Ancients - A tribute to the early inhabitants of the Southwest.  Long before the west was "won", there were many civilizations residing in the arid desert land that is now the U.S. and Mexico.
The Road To Yuma - To get to Yuma Arizona from Tucson  today, you would follow Interstates 10 and 8 but in the late 1800's it was a hot, dusty, bouncing ride, even in a "modern" stagecoach.
The Mission At San Carlos - A chronicle of over 200 years of this mission that has survived the ravages of weather and war, seen both weddings and funerals and yet the bell still rings today, serving the poor people of San Carlos.   An emotional song, like a movie, moves through periods of time at the mission.
Legends of Gold - Suspense, as we search for the lost legends of gold.  There are many stories about the Apache gold in Arizona, often referred to as the Lost Dutchman Mine.  Even today people still look for it but danger lurks.
Canyon Winds - "Dianna" adds her whispery voice to this upbeat song.  Sometimes there is a strong warm wind blowing through the canyon, let's take a ride.
Valley of The Sun - Our title song attempts to capture the power, beauty and grandeur of the sun drenched desert southwest, as does the album photo taken by Tom Baker.
Fire & Indians - To an old friend who spent many hours at the campfire with an Indian Chief.   Heavy drums accent this song.
To Sante Fe - The road to Santa Fe is fairly straight but trouble can still lurk for the unwary traveler.  Enjoy the scenery but be alert.
Diablo Pass - Danger is in the air.  This shortcut will save an hour's ride on horseback but there are bandits on the ledges above.   Best make a hard, fast ride to the other end.
Desert Voices - Lost in the desert, alone and out of water, soon you will start to hear the voices.  They are the children of the desert waiting to take your spirit home.
Civilizations - The four parts of the ancient civilizations:  The beginning, the transition, prosperity, and the decline.
Spirits - Sometimes late at night, they say the Indian spirits speak to you.
